New 112m Deltin casino vessel arrives in Goa; docks at MPA

PANAJI

The new 112-metre Deltin casino vessel has arrived in Goa and will be berthed at Berth No. 4 of Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) for a month to undergo renovation and sea clearance procedures.

The vessel, which reached Goa on Wednesday, has a capacity of around 2000 passengers and is expected to eventually replace Deltin's Kings Casino, designed in the shape of a dolphin, in the Mandovi River.

According to the shipping agent, the vessel, currently at the MPA dock, will undergo few renovations and repair work. “The remaining documentation process, roofing, panel changing, certification and the sea trial of the vessel will be done within the 1 month,” said the shipping agent. Authorities are yet to announce its final deployment after the one-month period.

However, the news has triggered strong opposition from residents and activists in Panaji. Concerns have been raised over increased river congestion, environmental pollution, and possible regulatory violations linked to the introduction of another large offshore casino vessel.
