MARGAO
Aam Aadmi Party team, headed by Captain Arvind Kejriwal, descended on the Navelim football turf on Tuesday to deliver a strong political message, assuring Goans that an AAP government would transform sports infrastructure across the state by developing modern facilities in every village.
Kejriwal's visit to Navelim came just days after former Chief Minister Churchill Alemao and his daughter, Valanka Alemao, organised a major football camp for budding youngsters in the constituency.
Accompanied by AAP Goa desk in-charge Atishi Marlena, Goa unit president Valmiki Naik, Benaulim MLA Captain Venzy Viegas and other party leaders, Kejriwal attended the football finals held at the Mandopa football ground, an event supported by the Aam Aadmi Party.
Expressing his happiness at being part of the football tournament, Kejriwal said football was an integral part of Goa's identity and culture. “I am happy to be part of the Goan tradition. Despite the challenges, I have seen how players and youngsters continue to actively participate in sports,” he said.
Highlighting the AAP government's initiatives in Punjab, Kejriwal claimed that the state had developed excellent sports infrastructure, including football, cricket and volleyball grounds, along with gym facilities in villages.
“Give AAP a chance to form the government in Goa, and we will create sports facilities in every village, including football and cricket infrastructure,” he assured.
Kejriwal urged people to look at the developments undertaken by the AAP government in Punjab. “Go to the internet and see for yourselves the sports amenities available in Punjab. Villages have floodlit grounds, sports equipment and coaches. Goa has produced several national and international sportspersons despite limited facilities. They reached great heights through sheer determination and hard work,” he said.
The AAP leader further assured that his party would act as a facilitator to help talented Goan youth realise their sporting potential and reach the highest levels in their respective disciplines.
The visit was widely seen as part of AAP's efforts to strengthen its outreach among Goa's youth and sports-loving communities ahead of future electoral battles in the state.
