Residents of Koparde of Mauxi Village Panchayat have expressed satisfaction following the completion of drain cleaning, desilting, and roadside bush-clearing works carried out ahead of the monsoon season. The initiative is expected to facilitate smooth rainwater drainage and enhance road safety for motorists and pedestrians.
According to available information, extensive cleaning of roadside drains was undertaken across the ward under the leadership of Panch member Radhika Sawant. Silt, debris, and accumulated waste were removed from drainage channels and transported away from the site, reducing the risk of blockages during the rainy season.
Waterlogging caused by clogged drains has been a recurring problem in the area, often creating inconvenience for residents and contributing to mosquito breeding and related health concerns. However, with the timely completion of desilting and cleaning works, rainwater is expected to flow freely, significantly lowering the chances of flooding and associated public health risks.
Following the completion of drain-cleaning operations in the Indiranagar and Dhangarwada localities, attention was turned to clearing overgrown roadside vegetation. Residents had raised concerns that dense bushes had encroached upon road space and obstructed visibility at several bends, increasing the likelihood of accidents.
Taking note of these concerns, Panch member Radhika Sawant prioritized the bush-clearing drive. The work was carried out in phases over the past eight days and has resulted in a noticeable improvement in road visibility and overall safety. Local residents, motorists, and pedestrians have welcomed the initiative, stating that travel through the area has become safer and more convenient.
Speaking on the occasion, Sawant said that development works in the ward are being implemented in accordance with the needs and demands of local residents. She emphasized that necessary precautionary measures are taken every year to ensure citizens do not face difficulties during the monsoon season.
“Every year, we undertake the cleaning and desilting of roadside drains before the onset of the monsoon. This year too, drains in Indiranagar, Dhangarwada, Brahmaninagar, and other parts of the ward have been thoroughly cleaned. In addition, roadside bushes were cleared following public demand, making the roads safer for vehicular movement,” Sawant said.
She further stated that the continued support of local MLA and Minister for Women and Child Development as well as Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has helped accelerate development activities in the ward. Expressing confidence about future projects, she said that more public-oriented initiatives would be undertaken to meet the expectations of residents and further strengthen civic infrastructure in the area.
The completion of these pre-monsoon works has been widely appreciated by residents, who believe the measures will help prevent seasonal problems and contribute to a cleaner, safer, and more accessible environment throughout the ward.
